The National Federation of Shopmobility

The National Federation of Shopmobility UK (NFSUK) was founded in 1990. The Federation is an internationally recognised organisation with affiliated Schemes across the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland. It is a Company Limited by Guarantee and a registered charity.

NFSUK is able to offer a developing range of accredited partnership arrangements. You should call our 24 hour answerphone service or email us with your mobility equipment, accessible accommodation or insurance needs.

We welcome enquiries from any organisation that is wanting to start a Shopmobility Scheme (or from any that might have started who are not yet affiliated). We have a "Starter Pack" of guidance and advice available for a modest charge (currently £10.00p inc p+p) to any existing or prospective Scheme aspiring to be affiliated to NFSUK. To obtain a copy please send a cheque for that amount made payable to "NFSUK" to "NFSUK, PO Box 6641, Christchurch, BH23 9DQ".

NFSUK aims to support existing Shopmobility Schemes at home (and abroad when possible), and to encourage the development of the Shopmobility network everywhere. The majority of Shopmobility schemes are self-funding and are either charities, established by local authorities or managed by their local shopping centre or other commercially based organisations.

The Schemes aim to promote equality of access and to encourage independence of people with disabilities (permanent or temporary), through the provision of mobility equipment such as scooters, wheelchairs and power chairs.

Shopmobility unlocks many access barriers faced by people with a disability, and the rapidly developing network of Schemes throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland and overseas gives people the confidence to travel, safe in the knowledge that friendly help and assistance will be available at the end of their journey."
