Now based in Lincoln Central Car Park, Lincoln DialaRide is delighted to report its ShopMobility service is proving more popular with improved premises and a new fleet of mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs.

Penny Hardman, Lincoln DialaRide Manager, explains: “We have been busy with 60% of our equipment hired and in use. We have been open during lockdown, primarily with our DialaRide and VCS services, but have hired out mobility equipment to assist people with getting around for essential purposes. We relocated our office just before lockdown and the Lincolnshire Co-op kindly supported us by purchasing 10 new mobility scooters, one powered wheelchair and two additional boot scooters.”

The new location for Lincoln DialaRide has greatly improved its service as Penny continues: “The difference between the old office and the new one is amazing. Our footfall (outside Covid restrictions) is high and we are getting more visitors using the service. The new car park offers additional time for Blue Badge holders and has excellent spacing for all vehicles – no posts to avoid! We take equipment out to customers and passengers arriving at the railway station, the car park and the bus station, as we are all together in the transport hub. We are working with Visit Lincoln and Lincoln Big to help promote our services to visitors.”

Lincoln is always a memorable and rewarding place to visit. With the ability to hire mobility equipment for independence across the city, visitors of all abilities can enjoy the many historic sites. Penny adds: “Most visitors come to Lincoln to experience its famous Bailgate area, Castle and Cathedral. Steep Hill, which has a gradient of 14% making it one of the steepest in Lincolnshire, is unfortunately not suitable for scooters however we provide a map to navigate around it. We are looking into producing a video showing the route you can take and to post it on our website.  There are also plenty of coffee shops and other areas to explore, such as Brayford Marina, the High Street and the newly redesigned Cornhill Quarter – where we are situated. We work closely with shops to ensure that our customers can access the buildings. Recently we visited the new Everyman Cinema in the Cornhill Quarter to provide a risk assessment and to give suggestions on how they could support mobility equipment being brought into the building. Hence all visitors with restricted mobility can now access the smaller screen areas and the Café facilities. We welcome everyone to Lincoln for a great day out!”

Lincoln DialaRide is part of the ShopMobility UK nationwide network.
